The Protection, Challenge, and Prospect of Anti-Oxidation Coating on the Surface of Niobium Alloy

Niobium (Nb)-based alloys have been extensively used in the aerospace field owing to their excellent high-temperature mechanical properties. However, inferior oxidation resistance severely limits application of Nb-based a high-temperature, oxygen-enriched environment. Related scholars studied protection niobium alloy and pointed out that surface coating technology is ideal for solving this problem. Based on different preparation methods alloys’ coatings, article summarizes relevant research domestic foreign past 30 years, including slurry sintering method (SS), suspension plasma spraying (SPS), halide activated pack cementation (HAPC), etc. The growth mechanism micromorphology coatings access by are evaluated.
